Sevilla are believed to be interested in Bournemouth forward Enes Ünal as they look for attacking reinforcements for the new season.
The Turkish international has been unable to break into the first-team squad of England and Sevilla may be able to give him a chance to turn his career around in Spanish football.
Sevilla exploring move for Ünal
Sevilla are believed to be looking at a few different options for their forwards, and they are looking to bring in more depth and competition in the final third.
The Andalusian outfit has been looking at several names including Ünal, but it is not believed that Sevilla will be the only club interested in his services.
The forward’s past stint with La Liga may be enticing enough for him to come back to Spain.
Bournemouth forward struggled for minutes
Last season, Ünal had a tough time at Bournemouth.
The Turkish attacker played in the top-flight league in 23 games, all of which were from the bench.
His poor opportunities also meant he only scored one goal and his future in the attacking line is not clear.
A transfer away might then give Ünal the opportunity to return to the form that made him a Spanish footballing name.
Competition emerging for Ünal
If Sevilla is looking to make a move, they could be in trouble.
Getafe and Alavés are also interested in the Bournemouth striker, as they look to bolster their frontline.
This might make it even more interesting towards the end of the summer transfer window.
Sevilla and Bournemouth already doing business
Interestingly, Sevilla and Bournemouth have already been involved in negotiations this summer.
It was recently agreed that the two clubs would agree on the transfer of Juandlu Sánchez, with Bournemouth agreeing to meet Sevilla’s demands for a permanent transfer.
They are currently in the process of some new negotiations with regard to Ünal, but there is no guarantee that another agreement will be reached.
Ünal facing an important decision
For the 29-year-old striker, the next few weeks could prove crucial.
The 2013-14 season was a time for watching from the sidelines for Ünal, who could now find a regular first-team opportunity elsewhere.
Sevilla’s interest may provide the Turkish international with a way to return to La Liga where he has proved his worth.
Getafe and Alavés are also rumoured to be interested in signing the midfielder, which makes the deal potentially one of the more interesting attacking deals in the run-up to the transfer window.
