The club are still seeking to build up their midfield with another deep-lying playmaker to have more control over games and a further centre-back for Mourinho. Yan Diomande is said to be nearing a Real Madrid signing, having become the sixth first-team player of the summer. The 19-year-old winger was a Bundesliga show-stopper and had a few European giants interested, but it seems like Madrid got the better of the deal. Diomande is likely one of the highest paid young players in the history of RB Leipzig with a reported €130million in demand.

Rodri is now one of the most sought-after midfielders for Real Madrid, having been the subject of numerous speculations over the years. The Manchester City forward would bring stability and quality to the midfield, where some legendary players have recently left, while also providing experience and commitment. City have been said to be in discussion about him, and his signing to Madrid could have ramifications on the fate of other midfielders in Mourinho’s squad.
3. Julián Alvarez
Another blockbuster name in Real Madrid’s sights is Julián Alvarez, who is said to be a candidate for Los Blancos. The Madrid outfit are believed to have made an offer of €150m for the Atlético Madrid playmaker, which was turned down. Atlético will not be giving up on Alvarez and Real Madrid will have a tough decision to make if they wish to try to sign him back.

Borussia Dortmund’s Nico Schlotterbeck, though, could be a potential target for Madrid, as could be the case for the Spaniard.

However, Real Madrid have already lost a few players as a result of this summer, such as Dani Carvajal, David Alaba and Dani Ceballos as well as some younger squad members. The Brazilian forward will be returning to Real Madrid from an impressive loan with Lyon, having scored eight goals in 21 appearances. He might be a valuable option for Mourinho as he can play through the centre or from the right flank, which will be useful as Rodrygo remains out of action. The 20-year-old will now get a chance to play in Madrid’s attack on a regular basis.
4. Vinícius Jr. Contract Situation
Vinícius Jr. is one of Real Madrid’s top priorities to re-sign, and the Brazilian is reportedly in the final year of his current contract. The winger will always be one of the key attacking players at the club and Madrid will want to make sure he stays on for the foreseeable future as Mourinho works on a new-look squad with some of the players in the team’s prime.
5. Nico Paz to Remain at Como
So, Nico Paz is likely to stay at Como for another season as Real Madrid decided to keep the young Argentine midfielder in Italy. Madrid will keep a buy-back agreement in place, and can go back to him if he continues to develop. The midfielder will get a lot of first-team football next season before Madrid take a final decision on his long-term future.

But the summer transfer window at Real Madrid is far from over and there are a host of other key arrivals such as Yan Diomande and Rodri as well as a second centre-back. Meanwhile the club has to figure out what to do with Camavinga and Asencio as well as keep an eye on Vinícius Jr.’s contract. There are still a number of big transfers to be made at Real Madrid and Mourinho’s squad could be quite different come the start of the 2026–27 campaign.
