Real Madrid’s summer rebuild under the new head coach Jose Mourinho and president Florentino Perez is coming together with five new players already joining and more to follow. But, as La Liga restricts first team teams to 25 players, the club could have to sell or loan players to accommodate more signings.
Yan Diomande is likely to be the sixth summer signing for the club, while Real Madrid are also interested in signing Manchester City’s Rodri. A second centre-back may also be needed before the transfer window reopens, further adding to the need for a change.
1. Ferland Mendy
Ferland Mendy has been plagued by frequent injuries and has appeared in just nine first-team games this season. He’s just had surgery for a tendon tear and is likely to miss the start of the new campaign. Real Madrid may well be looking to drop him from the squad at first glance and seek him in January.
2. Raúl Asencio
Raúl Asencio’s chances of regular playing time have decreased following the arrival of Ibrahima Konaté. He is likely to play less for Real Madrid if the club signs another player, as it has been reported that the 23-year-old could be sold or loaned to another club.
3. Eduardo Camavinga
Eduardo Camavinga was previously believed to be leaving Real Madrid after a few seasons at the club, but it has been reported that there has been a recent dampening of the Premier League’s interest in the Portuguese. The midfielder has the potential for a huge transfer fee, but it will be partly up to Mourinho to see what he does with him.
4. Aurélien Tchouaméni
Aurélien Tchouaméni could be one of the most valuable players Real Madrid might sell. The 26-year-old has been of interest to Manchester United and may fetch a price near to nine figures. But, it would be a risky move to sell him before Rodri officially arrives as Tchouaméni is the only specialist defensive midfielder in the squad.
5. Franco Mastantuono
Real Madrid are nearing a move to loan Franco Mastantuono to Fiorentina. But his departure would not open up a first team spot as the young Argentine is registered with Castilla. According to La Liga regulations, U-23 players can be signed with the B team, but also play for the first team.
6. Endrick
Real Madrid might be able to do something similar with Endrick. The 20-year-old is coming off a loan spell in Lyon and will be looking to feature alongside Kylian Mbappé and other attacking players for Mourinho.
Endrick is a U-23 player, which means he may be able to play for Castilla in the 2026-27 season. But another loan may be on the cards, too, and Roma are said to be among the clubs that are interested in the Brazilian forward.
