Real Madrid have reportedly reached an agreement with the teenager’s agent to sign him, but a disagreement between two agencies is holding up the move from RB Leipzig.
It has been reported that Real Madrid’s interest in the signature of the highly-rated teenager, Yan Diomande, has been stalled due to a disagreement between two agencies that are representing him. Los Blancos are known to have won the race for the player ahead of clubs such as Paris Saint-Germain and Liverpool but the deal is not yet finalised.
Since joining RB Leipzig, Diomande has become one of the most promising talents in Europe, drawing attention for his impressive performances. Real Madrid are said to be willing to pay a fee of approximately €135m, but a dispute has arisen between Maxidel Management and Roc Nation Sports.
It is believed that the problem had already arisen before Real Madrid got involved in the transfer. It is not a disagreement over the transfer itself, but rather a scenario between the two agencies, the Spanish giants report.
Two Agencies Claim Representation Rights
The conflict is said to be between Maxidel Management, the company set up by former Ivory Coast international, Max Gradel, and Roc Nation Sports, a global entertainment and sports agency that has been making a foray into football.
Maxidel Management assisted in Diomande’s transfer to RB Leipzig from Leganés and later inked a deal with the player. The agency publicly said that it is based on trust and a shared vision for the teen’s career.
But just a couple of weeks later, Roc Nation Sports revealed that Diomande had signed with the football division. The agency then promoted the young player on their social media, including during the 2026 World Cup window.
The development right away raised questions of which agency would be legally entitled to represent Diomande. Afterwards, Maxidel Management argued that the player was still under contract with the company, which has now become pertinent in his potential deal with Real Madrid.
FIFA Complaint Adds Complication
Real Madrid reportedly entered into negotiations with Roc Nation Sports prior to learning about the controversy with Maxidel Management. The smaller agency has reportedly lodged a complaint with FIFA, claiming the breach in their contract with Diomande.
The complaint may make the administrative process of completing the transfer more complicated. Real Madrid are not thought to be directly involved in the row, but the club will have to ensure that all contractual and registration issues are settled before the player can officially be a part of the club.
