Former Juve striker Dušan Vlahović is still reported to be interested in joining Barcelona, and is watching the progress of the Catalan giants’ hunt for a new centre-forward.
Barcelona are believed to be looking for a replacement for Robert Lewandowski, who has been a major loss for the midfield, as they are looking for more in the middle.
Barcelona continue search for striker
The Blaugrana hierarchy have been scouting around for a few possible candidates to bolster Flick’s attack.
The Barcelona recruitment team and sporting director Deco are thought to have looked at a number of profiles but the club are yet to make a deal with their preferred candidate.
The situation may then be ripe for Vlahović to return to the fray.
Vlahović remains hopeful of Barcelona move
Vlahović is said to be keeping a close eye on Barcelona’s dealings and is convinced that it could ultimately be to his advantage.
The Serbian striker is now a free agent after his contract with Juventus expired and Barcelona may be able to land his signature without having to pay a traditional transfer fee.
Vlahović and his team have not lost faith in the possibility, as it is reported that they are still confident that an opportunity may arise if Barcelona’s preferred targets don’t come through.
Serbian striker not Barcelona’s priority
But even though Vlahović is an optimist, he doesn’t seem to be Barcelona’s first choice at the moment.
The Catalan outfit is reportedly mulling over the signing of the 26-year-old but a number of other attacking options may be higher up the list.
But as the transfer window moves on Barcelona’s plans may change rapidly.
Vlahović waits for his opportunity
Until now, the Serbian forward will have to wait and see what Barcelona decide to do.
His availability as a free agent may make him a good fallback option, especially if the club has trouble getting a deal for other centre-forwards.
Vlahović’s bid to join Camp Nou is still not set in stone but he will need to add more firepower to his attacking arsenal if Flick is to be persuaded to sign him.
